A. I agree with Marshall McLuhan statement that certain media are more appropriate to certain culture. It is true that every people have different perception, and audience have different ways to be reached. I love his idea about the use of radio in Africa to persuade people. I agree with him that if you want to persuade people in African culture, it is better to put your ads in the radio. Radio is a “high definition” medium, which contains a specific data; however, different culture has different way to be reached. For example, I think to reach American people we should put our ads in “low definition” or “cool media” because for Americans being involved is important. There is one advertisement form Jack in the Box that really reminds me about this idea. The ads asked for its audience to participate. The audience response really well and they keep talking about the ads.
B. I think certain cultures and societies will change over time with the evolution of new media, because right now people can see that internet is taking control of everything. Internet is a new medium that just become popular between the last five to ten years, but they already take control of others media. For example, people, especially teenagers, prefer to watch their series movie in the internet. They prefer to read their magazine through internet, etc.
C. I am definitely agreed that media and society is interconnected. The majority people start to become addictive with media, especially internet. It is so hard to do not access internet for just one day because we rely to media too much
D. Internet will be an important aspect of the progression of our generation. We can see now that people start to rely and become addictive to internet, and I think it will going on for the next twenty years. We can search anything in the internet, so it is a high definition. It contains so much information; however, we can also put internet as a low definition, because they need audience participation, like survey, polls, etc.
